NU Falls to No. 3 College of Idaho

Nemanja Grujicic squeezes by Joey Nebeker of C of I
Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho – No. 3 ranked College of Idaho had four players score in double figures as they cruised to a 93-67 victory over Northwest University to open Cascade Conference play tonight. The defending CCC champions improved to 12-1 for the season while Northwest U dropped to 8-3.

Shooting 47% in the first half, the Yotes built a 22 point halftime lead while holding Northwest U to 35% shooting from the field. Nemanja Grujicic would cut C of I's lead to 9, 26-17 at the 7:49 mark, but the College of Idaho would then hold the Eagles scoreless for over 3 ½ minutes as they built their lead to 21, 38-17 by the 4:28 mark. NU would be unable to cut into the Yote lead the remainder of the half and would trail 47-25 at the break.

The College of Idaho would only outscore the Eagles 46-42 in the second half, but the large lead the Yotes established in the first period would be too much for the Eagles to overcome. 20 points would be the closest the Eagles would get in the second half as the Yotes would go on to post their first CCC win in as many tries.

Thomas Jordan led four Northwest U (8-3. 0-1 CCC) scorers in double figures with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Nemanja Grujicic scored 11 while teammates Marko Nikolic and Cody Shackett would contribute 10 points each. NU's leading scorer, Dak Shagren was held to just 4 points, well under his 17 ppg average.

Leading the way for the College of Idaho (12-1, 1-0) was Andrew Bruce with 14 points. Demetrius Perkins and Joey Nebeker each scored 11 points with Perkins also grabbing 10 rebounds for the double-double. Marko Kovacevic dropped in 10 points for the Yotes who shot 47% as a team. C of I held a large margin in the rebounding category with 51 to NU's 33.

NU now heads to La Grande to face Eastern Oregon in another CCC game tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m.
