EOU Hits Century Mark in Win Over Eagles

Nemanja Grujicic led the Eagles with 25 points tonight
Box Score LA GRANDE, Ore. – The NU Eagle men also ran into an Eastern Oregon team with a hot hand tonight as they fell, 100-82, to go 0-2 in conference play on their weekend road trip. EOU shot an impressive 63% for the night including a blazing 68% in the first half as they built a 55-39 lead which the Eagles would not be able to overcome.

With 9:55 to go in the first half, NU's Thomas Jordan would drain a 3-pointer to pull NU to within 5 points, 20-15, but EOU would go on an 11-3 run to build their lead to 31-18 lead after a Deonta Edwards driving lay-in with 7:34 showing on the clock. EOU would slowly put distance between themselves and the Eagles as Dak Shagren's jumper with 10 seconds to go in the half would make it a 53-39 halftime score.

Eastern Oregon would lead by as many as 18 points early in the second half, but NU would battle back and chip away at their lead and two straight 3-pointers by Dak Shagren would make it a 6 point, 70-64 ball game at the 10:39 mark. That would be the closest the Eagles would get the remainder of the game as EOU would slowly pull away and Bryan McGriff's trey with 1:05 would grow the lead to 90-79 as the Mountaineers would go on to improve to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in CCC play.

Nemanja Grujicic would lead Northwest U (8-4, 0-2 CCC) with 25 points, hitting 75% of his shots (9-12). Dak Shagren added 21 points and C.J. Carter dropped in 19.  NU shot 51% for the game and 53% from the 3-point line.

Eastern Oregon (8-2, 2-0 CCC) was led by Bryan McGriff's game high 34 points including 6 for 9 shooting from beyond the 3-point line. He added 10 rebounds for a double-double. Teammate De'Sean Mattox scored 26 points and handed out a game high 10 assists. Deonte Edwards added 19 points for the Mounties who also outrebounded NU 34-22.

Northwest U will return home to Kirkland and will host Quest University from Canada next Saturday night in the Pavilion.
