Cavalier Pitchers Limit NU Hitters

NU's Kelli Peckham gave up just 5 CU hits and struck out 5 in game one
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 PORTLAND, Ore. – Concordia's pitchers held NU scoreless and limited the Eagles to 4 hits in the two games today, as they swept the doubleheader, 4-0 and 8-0 (5 innings).

Game 1 – The Cavaliers took an early 2-0 lead after a Cassidy Horner 2-run home run over the left center field fence on a 3-2 pitch. The scored again in the 3rd when Meghan Luebbert came home on a passed ball to put CU up 3-0. Their final score of the game came in the 6th inning on Rielly Byrd's single to center which would drive in Kate Santos from second base.

Mallory Tacdol and Bethany Bacon got the hits for the Eagles and Kelli Peckham went the distance in the circle for NU, giving up just 5 hits and striking out 5.
Reilly Byrd led Concordia with 2 hits at 3 times at the plate with a RBI. Cassidy Horner went 1 for 1 with the 2-run HR. McKenzie Marshall pitched the 2-hitter for CU striking out 6 Eagles and giving up only one base on balls.

Game 2- Concordia started early again with 4 runs crossing home plate in the 1st inning on 3 hits. Three more Cavalier runners scored in the bottom of the 3rd highlighted by Kate Santos 2-run home run to left field. Their final run of the game came on a walk with the bases loaded in the 4th inning.

Alyssa Gonzalez and Bethany Bacon got the two hits for Northwest U (1-25, 1-19 CCC). Kierston Perry and Kelli Peckham each went 2 innings for the Eagles. Perry gave up 7 runs on 7 hits.

Lucy Baldovino went 4 innings for Concordia (RV, 24-14, 16-4 CCC) and gave up one hit while not issuing a base on balls. Danielle Orvella closed out the game in the 5th inning with one hit and no walks.

Northwest U will now travel to Oregon Tech and Southern Oregon on Friday and Saturday for conference doubleheaders.
