No. 17 OIT Takes Two From Eagles

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. –  The NU Eagles took on No. 17 ranked Oregon Tech this afternoon and fell in both contests, 3-0 and 10-1. OIT Pitchers limited the Eagles to four hits in each game.

Game 1 – NU's Kelli Peckham held the 17th ranked Owls scoreless for 4 innings giving up just two hits, but OIT came through with two runs in the bottom of the 5th as they strung together a one out double and two singles to break the scoreless tie. OIT got another unearned run in the 5th when Danielle Sayres scored on an NU error.

OIT got one more run in the 6th inning with Alyssa Davis scoring on Cassidy Olson's single. The Eagles would not score leaving five on base during the contest.
Cassidy Olson went 6 innings for OIT earning the shutout and allowed four NU hits and struck out 7. Alyssa Gonzalez, Katelin Lewis, Janey Ganta and Lizzy Reimer had the four hits for the Eagles.

Game 2 – Tech scored early as they would lead 1-0 in the first after back-to-back doubles by Shauna Collins and McKenzie Schrum. They would get two more runs in the second on a 2 run single by Shrum. The Owls would put the game away in the 4th inning when they would erupt for 7 runs on 6 hits and highlighted by Tre Sullivan's bases loaded single.

The Eagles' run came in the top of the 4th when Kierston Perry hit a 2-2 pitch for a single with two on scoring Alyssa Gonzalez who had come in to pinch run for Ricki Tacdol.

Jess Duncan would get the win for OIT (26-8, 17-3 CCC) going 4 innings for the Owls holding NU to 4 hits and a run. Kierston Perry took the loss for Northwest U (1-26, 1-21 CCC) pitching for the Eagles, but batted in the only run, going 1 for 2 from the plate.

NU now moves west to Ashland and will take on Southern Oregon tomorrow morning at 11 a.m.
