Kyle Zimmerman's goal 3:29 into overtime, gave NU a narrow, 2-1 victory over Northwest Christian this afternoon in stormy conditions on Northwest U's senior which honored six graduating upperclassmen. Playing in 40 mph wind gusts and sloppy field conditions, both teams struggled to get any sort of rythmn.
Jacob Weaver put Northwest into the lead in the 9th minute as he finished a rebound off his own penalty kick which had deflected off the NCU goalkeeper's hands.

NU held onto the slim lead for nearly 58 minutes, but it wouldn't hold as Isaiah Blake took Chris Hendler's corner kick from the right and past the Northwest U goalkeeper, who had fallen attempting to recover, and into the left corner of the net.
Both teams would have missed opportunities in the second half as the goalkeepers combined for seven saves in the period.
In the 94th minute,
Chris Iacolucci would place a pass from right to left into the box where Zimmerman would put his left footer into the right corner as it would glance off an NCU player.
Northwest U (10-8, 8-5CCC) outshot the Beacons 19-12 and
Daniel Mathiason, getting his second start, grabbed seven saves for the Eagles. NU also held a 7-5 edge in corner kicks. John Castro took the loss for Northwest Christian (3-14-1, 2-11 CCC) with seven saves in goal.
"Senior day is always a special day," said NU coach,
Gary McIntosh. "This senior group has poured so much into this program and I'm very proud of them. With the field conditions being so bad it was not the best played game by us, but it was nice to get the win on senior day. After a few days off our focus now turns to the playoffs."
