Geoducks End Drought, Defeat Eagles

Box Score OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Evergreen State College used 44 percent shooting from the 3-point, hitting 10 of 23 shots from the arc, to help lift them to an 86-71, non-conference victory over the NU Eagles tonight. The win ended a 14 game losing streak to the Eagles dating back to 2009 for the Geoducks. On the Northwest U side, the Eagles managed to hit just 3 of 24 shots from the 3-point line for 13 percent shooting. Evergreen exploited the Eagles cold shooting by taking a 45-28 at halftime.

Northwest U came back in the second half to outscore the Geoducks, 43-41, but it wouldn't be enough to make up the deficit. NU also played without the services of starter, Tomas Ogbaslassie, who sat out tonight with an injury.

Ben Tucakovic led Northwest (1-3) with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double. Dak Shagren and newcomer, Jaden Jenkins, both scored 12 for the Eagles with Zach Smith dropping in 11 points. Rebounding was even at 36-36. NU made 44 percent of their shots (28-64).

Danny Powell scored 17 points for Evergreen (1-2) and added 9 rebounds. Alix Hernandez scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for his double-double. Frankie Johnson added 15 points for the Geoducks who shot 52 percent for the contest.

The Eagles will take a week off and resume play on November 17 when they host Northwest Indian College in the NU Pavilion
