Corban Takes Two from Eagles

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KIRKLAND, Wash. – Corban took both games of a Cascade Conference doubleheader, 11-1 in six innings and 7-4 for the sweep this afternoon at Everest Park in Kirkland.

Game 1 – Two big innings were the difference in the first game as the Warriors scored four runs in the first inning and five in the 6th in a 15 hit attack for the 11-1 victory in six innings.
 
Corban's Kyrianna Sorenson singled home the first run hitting a 3-2 pitch into right field scoring Danielle Ackerman. RaeAnna Dorcus then hit a 3-run home run to make it 4-0 after the first inning of play.  Northwest U got one run back in the bottom of the first when Darian Godfrey hit a solo home run to left.
 
The Warriors got two more runs in the 5th inning when Anne Binschus and Kyrianna Sorenson hit back-to-back doubles with one out to score Binschus from second. Jamie Costa then singled in Sorenson from second making it 6-0 Warriors.
 
The big inning came in the top of the 6th when Corban brought five runs on four hits across the plate. Sorenson singled in Annie Owen. Danielle Ackerman scored on an NU error and then Binschus scored on a passed ball. Hannah Yelas came in to relieve Kelli Peckham in the circle for Northwest and the next Corban batter, Kylie Durre singled to center field driving in Shelby Mauermann and Sorenson to end the scoring for the Warriors.
 
Sabrina Boyd then came in to pitch for Corban in the bottom of the 6th and after putting two Eagles on base, she retired the next three NU batters for the victory.
 
Darian Godfrey was a bright spot for Northwest U, going 2 for 3 including the home run. Katelyn Riedinger had the only other hit for the Eagles as Kelli Peckham took the loss in the circle.
 
For Corban Kyrianna Sorenson had a big game going 4 for 4 with three RBI's and scoring three times. RaeAnna Dorcas was 2 for 3 with three RBI's and also scored three runs for the Warriors and Kylie Durre drove in two runs on a 2 for 3 game. Emily Buhrkuhl pitched a 3-hitter with seven strikeouts and issued only one walk.
 
Game 2 – Corban built a six run lead in the first six innings to hold on for the 7-4 win in the second game. The Warriors scored a run in the first and second innings to lead 2-0 and then added another run in the 5th inning when Jamie Costa singled in Shelby Mauermann who had come in for RaeAnna Dorcus who had doubled to center with two outs.
 
Kyrianna Sorenson continued her hitting streak into the second game with a three run home run in the top of the 6th inning scoring Taylor Eilders who had singled and Anne Binschus who had got on base with a walk and putting Corban up 6-0.
 
The Eagles came back in the bottom half of the 6th inning with four runs. Katelyn Riedinger walked with the bases loaded scoring Kierston Perry from third. Darian Godfrey then came up with a clutch two out double scoring Katelyn Riedinger, Courtney Cox and Katelin Lewis. Godfrey was then thrown out trying to advance to third ending the rally.
 
Taylor Eilders helped with an insurance run in the top of the 7th inning when she hit a 0-2 pitch for solo home run and giving Corban a 7-4.
Sabrina Boyd came into pitch for Corban in the bottom of the 7th and retired the Eagles with one runner left on base.
 
Northwest U (8-14, 4-10 CCC) was led by Darian Godfrey once again as she drove in three RBI's going 2 for 3 from the plate. NU was limited to just four hits with Kierston Perry and Katelin Lewis getting the other two hits for NU.  Perry pitched 6 1/3 innings for Northwest U giving up seven runs on 10 hits.
 
Jessica Holsinger gave another solid performance by the Corban (26-9, 9-4 CCC) pitching staff giving up just four hits and striking out five. Kyrianna Sorenson added to her RBI total for the day with three more in the second game going 1 for 4 and giving her six RBI's for the two games. Taylor Eilders was 2 for 3 from the plate with a RBI and scoring once. Kari Van Cleave was 2 for 4 with a RBI.
