Eagles Split with No. 23 Corban

Eagle pitcher Kelli Peckham threw a 6-hitter in the NU win over Corban
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KIRKLAND, Wash. – The NU Eagles split their CCC doubleheader with No. 23 Corban, beating the ranked Warriors 4-1 in game one and then dropping a five inning, 12-0, one hit shutout in game two.

Game 1 Kelli Peckham came up with a complete game 6-hitter as the Eagles dropped the Warriors, 4-1, in the first game of today's doubleheader. Peckham had a no-hitter going for five innings before Corban broke through. She struck out five, giving up just one walk.
Peckham and Corban pitcher Danielle Horne got locked into a pitcher's duel until the top of the third inning when the Eagles got things going. Bethany Bay led off the inning with a single followed by a Katelyn Riedinger walk. Darian Godfrey then singled to center. After Bay was forced out at home on a fielder's choice, Ricki Tacdol stepped up and hit a clutch double to right center driving in three runs and giving NU the 3-0 lead.

The Eagles got one more run in the 7th inning when Janey Ganta came through with a single to left field which would score Katelyn Riedinger.

Corban threatened in the bottom of the 7th as Jamie Costa singled in Kylie Durre who had doubled with one out.  Taylor Eilders then doubled putting to Warriors on base with one out, but Peckham got Kali Van Cleave to pop up and struck out Annie Owen to end the game and earn the win.

Ricki Tacdol led NU with a 3 for 4 day and 3 RBI's. Darien Godfrey was also 3 for 4 and Bethany Bay went 2 for 3 as the Eagles pounded out 10 hits for the game. Kelli Peckham got the win for NU (6-11).

Corban was led by Jamie Costa who went 2 for 3 and had the lone Warriors RBI. Danielle Horne (7-1) took the loss for Corban in the circle, her first of the season.

Game 2 – It didn't take the Warriors long to get going in the second game as they erupted for ten runs in the second inning as they would go on to shut out the Eagles, 12-0 in five innings.

Corban would pound out ten runs on six hits in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take a 10-0 lead. The big hit would be Jamie Costa's grand slam home run off NU starter, Kierston Perry.

Pitcher Sabrina Boyd would make things difficult for the Eagles allowing only two on base for the game and taking a no-hitter into the 5th inning. Lexie Robbins broke up Boyd's no-hitter with her 2-out double in the 5th o right field, but NU would not be able to bring her home, ending the game in five innings.

Perry went 1 2/3 innings for Northwest U 12-22, 8-18 CCC) with Hannah Yelas coming in to relieve her and throw 2 1/3 innings.
Corban's Boyd earned the win and is now 6-4 for the season.  Corban (34-14, 17-9 CCC) had 10 hits for the game led by Jamie Costa who went 1 for 3 with 4 RBI's. Kalie Van Cleave was 2 for 2 with 3 RBI's and RaeAnna Dorcas was 2 for 2 with one RBI.

The Eagles move on to Eugene, Ore., where they will face Northwest Christian in their final doubleheader of the year at 11 a.m., Saturday.
