Box Score 2 KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – No. 13 Oregon Tech's pitcher's limited NU hitters and the Owls came up with big innings as they swept the Eagles 12-4 and 10-2 in two five inning games this afternoon. For OIT, it was their 8th and 9
th consecutive wins as they improved to 29-8 for the season and 13-2 in CCC play to stay atop the conference standings. The Eagles fall to 8-16 overall and 4-12 in the CCC.
Game 1 – The Eagles went up 1-0 in the top of the first inning when
Courtney Cox hit a 2-out single to score
Ricki Tacdol. Tech answered in their half of the inning with four runs. Sadie Burch drove in two runs with single down the left field line and then Ashley Sfetku doubled scoring two more Owls for the 4-1 lead.
The score remained the same until the 4
th inning when
Katelyn Riedinger came through with a three run home run tying the score at 4-4. The tie didn't last long as OIT would come back with two runs in the bottom of the 4
th to re-take the lead, 6-4.
Tech came up with a big 5
th inning bringing six runs across the plate to end the contest. The big hit was McKenzie Shrum's bases loaded triple.
Jessi Duncan earned the win for the Owls going four innings and giving up four runs on five NU hits and striking out four.
Katelyn Riedinger led Northwest U going 1 for 1 with the three RBI home run and also scored a run.
Courtney Cox was 1 for 3 with a RBI and
Savannah Rush went 2 for 3 for NU.
Kelli Peckham took the loss in the circle.
Tara Moates had a good game for Oregon Tech going 2 for 4 and driving in three runs. McKenzie Shrum was 1 for 3 and had three RBIs.
Game 2 – Oregon Tech came up with another big inning in the 5
th as they would defeat the Eagles 10-2 in five innings.
Katelyn Riedinger continued her power streak with her second home run of the day, this time a solo home run to left field in the first inning to give NU a 1-0 lead. Tech again answered in their half of the inning with three runs on three hits. The Owls added another run in the 2
nd inning when Katie Virtue led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by teammate Tara Moates.
Savannah Rush added a run for the Eagles in the 3
rd inning when she hit a two-out home run over the left field fence to close the gap to 4-2. But, OIT would score in the 3
rd as well and add another run in the 4
th inning when Ashley Sfetku singled scoring Tre Sullivan.
The Owls would end the game in the 5
th inning with power as Tara Moates hit a solo home run to center and Sadie Birch hit a three run home run to left center to give OIT the 8 run lead.
Riedinger and Rush both went 1 for 3 and each had a home run for the Eagles. Riedinger now leads the Eagles in home runs with six for the year.
Courtney Cox was 2 for 2 as
Kierston Perry would go the distance in the circle and take the loss for NU.
Oregon Tech was led by Sadie Birch's four RBI's going 1 for 4. Tara Moates was 2 for 3, scoring twice and driving in two runs while Cassidy Hoglund was 2 for 2 with two RBI's. Ann-Marie Guischer earned the win pitching four innings, giving up five hits and striking out eight Eagle batters.
Northwest U moves on to Ashland tomorrow and will play Southern Oregon at 11 a.m. in another Cascade Conference doubleheader before heading back to Kirkland.
