Eagles Post Third Straight Win

Box Score MESA, Ariz. – The NU Eagle men built a 41-32 halftime lead on their way to an 87-66 victory over Benedictine Mesa tonight. NU outscored Ben Mesa 46-34 in the second half for the win.
 
Senior Ben Tucakovic led Northwest U (3-0) with 21 points and 11 rebounds for his second straight double-double to start the season. Tucakovic shot 60 percent for the game hitting 2 of 4 attempts from the 3-point line. Michael Dupree added 18 points, Dak Shagren 12 points and Justice Martion with 10 points. NU hit 54 per cent of their shots tonight.
 
Benedictine Mesa was led by Devin White's 14 points and Jose Cano's 13 points.  Richie Thornton and Joe Baldi each scored 11 points for the Redhawks. Ben Mesa shot 39 per cent for the game on 22 for 56 shooting.
 
"Playing on the road is always a challenge, but our guys responded well tonight," said John Van Dyke, NU head coach. We take small steps in the right direction with each game and our guys are slowly building good chemistry."
 
NU continues play on Saturday in Prescott, Ariz., against Embry Riddle.
