Eagles Hot Hand Downs Radiers

Ben Tucakovic shot 60 per cent for 23 points today
Box Score ASHLAND, Ore. – The NU Eagles rebounded from their double overtime loss to OIT with a convincing 93-73 road victory over Southern Oregon at Ashland High School this afternoon. NU showed little fatigue today shooting 50 per cent from the 3-point line and 51 per cent for the game.
 
The Eagles took command of the game eight minutes into the first half with a 9-0 run capped off by a Tre' Benton 3-pointer to go up by 15, 25-10 with 11:13 to go in the half. SOU would cut the NU lead to seven, 33-26 at the 5:17 mark, but a 4-0 spurt by the Eagles would get the lead back up to 37-26 after a Dak Shagren jump shot. NU would then go on to take a 40-30 halftime lead.
 
NU would start the second half off with a 14-4 run to take a 20 point advantage, 52-32, on a trey my Michael Dupree and the Raiders would never recover as the Eagles high percentage shooting would continue never allowing SOU to get closer than 16 the remainder of the game. Ben Tucakovic's 3-pointer with 6:28 on the clock would give NU their largest lead of the game of 25 points, 83-58, as they would go on to post their 12th win of the season against one loss.
 
Ben Tucakovic and Dak Shagren combined for 43 points for Northwest U (12-1, 4-1 CCC) with Tucakovic scoring 23 and Shagreen dropping in 20 points. Tucakovic would shoot 60 per cent while Shagren would hit 8 of 12 shots for 67 per cent shooting. Michael Dupree added 14 points and 4 assists while Tre' Benton and Justice Martion each scored 10. The Eagles also won the rebounding battle with 34 rebounds to the Raiders' 33.
 
Ben DeSaulnier led Southern Oregon (8-6, 2-2 CCC) hitting 7 of 11 shots for 20 points and added 6 assists. Conor Carroll came off the bench to score 17 points and gathered in 6 rebounds. The Raiders also shot a good percentage converting 53 per cent of their shots, 27 per cent from the 3-point line.
 
"I am really proud of our guys and the way they rebounded quickly from tough, double overtime game at OIT last night," said NU coach, John Van Dyke. "Winning on the road in our conference is a challenge and they stepped up and met that challenge today with a win over a solid Southern Oregon team. We had tired legs, but our guys toughed it out for the victory. This will only help us as we go into a break and come back to prepare for Eastern Oregon and the College of Idaho at home."
