UGF Pitching Leads to CCC Sweep

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KIRKLAND, Wash. – The University of Great Falls pitchers limited Northwest University batters to 6 hits in two games as they swept the Eagles 9-0 and 9-1 (6 innings) this afternoon in Cascade Conference play in sunny and warm weather conditions.
 
Game 1 – UGF 9, Northwest U 0
 
Keeley Van Blaricom pitched a 2-hitter as the Argonauts shut out Northwest U 9-0 in the first game of today's doubleheader. Van Blaricom struck out seven Eagle batters and gave up just one walk in the victory. Great Falls had two big innings in the 3rd and 7th as they scored four runs in each inning.
 
The Argonauts' scored their four runs in the 3rd inning on an NU error, a sacrifice fly and Mindy Larson came up with a two run double to left center to take a 4-0 lead.
 
Larson doubled again in the 5th to score Chloe Cross who had walked. Four more runs would score in the top of the 7th inning as the Argos came up with four hits and benefited from two Northwest U errors. Keeley Van Blaricom helped her own cause with a ground rule double which scored Mindy Larson and Alissa Keeler.
 
Alyssa Gonzalez and Savannah Rush had the only hits for Northwest U (7-16, 4-9 CCC) while Kelli Peckham took the loss in the circle going three innings for the Eagles.
 
Mindy Larson led Great Falls (14-9, 4-5 CCC) with a 3 for 4 game and 3 RBIs while scoring once. Chloe Cross was 2 for 3 and scored two runs and Alex Lowry went 1 for 3 with one RBI.
 
Game 2 – Great Falls 9, Northwest U 1 (6 innings)
 
Great Falls would extend a 4-1 lead with a five run 6th inning as they would defeat Northwest U 9-1. UGF pitcher, Shelby Abeyta, scattered four Eagle hits, striking out 8 and walking two to earn the win.
 
With the game tied at 1-1 after the first inning, UGF would score once in the 2nd and two more runs in the 3rd inning for the 4-0 lead. Danielle Bonsky's single in the bottom of the first inning drove in Darian Godfrey who had doubled to right to knot the score at 1-all.
 
Alex Lowry led off the top of the 3rd inning with a solo home run to left center and Kylie Prough drove in Mindy Larson who had singled to center to put UGF up 4-0.
 
After scoring on an NU error in the 6th, Alex Lowry would hit s two run double to left center bringing Morgan Robinson and Paige Bodner in to score. Two more Argos would score on Alissa Keeler's single as the Argonauts would put the game away.
 
Abeyta and her defense then put down Northwest U 1,2,3, in the bottom of the 6th to earn the victory.
 
Danielle Bonsky led Northwest U (7-17, 4-10 CCC) with a 1 for 3 game at the plate and had one RBI. Allie Anderegg and Mikayla Wells were both 1 for 2 for the Eagles.
 
Great Falls' (15-9, 5-5 CCC) Alex Lowry had big game going 2 for 3, scoring twice and driving in three runs. Alissa Keeler also went 2 for 3 from the late and had three RBIs while teammate Kylie Prough was 1 for 3, scored a run and had one RBI for the Argonauts.
