Eagles Sweep the Yotes in Caldwell

Ricki Tacdol hit the game winning home run in game one today
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CALDWELL, IdahoSavannah Rush and Ricki Tacdol hit solo home runs in game one as the NU Eagles edged the College of Idaho, 2-1 and 11 runners crossed home plate for an 11-2 victory in game two for their second doubleheader sweep of the season.
 
Game 1 – NU 2, C of I 1

Senior Ricki Tacdol came through with a game winning solo home run in the top of the seventh inning as the Eagles edge the College of Idaho in game one of their CCC doubleheader. Kelli Peckham pitched a solid 4-hitter going the distance, striking out 5 and walking just one Yote batter.

Savannah Rush put NU in the lead in the 2nd inning with a one out solo shot to center field. The Yotes would come back in the 5th inning to tie the game on a run scoring single to center.

Tacdol would then come to the plate in the 7th with one out and hit her fifth home run of the season over the center field fence for the game winner.

Rush and Tacdol led the Eagles (10-23, 5-16 CCC) with Rush going 1 for 2 with the RBI and Tacdol batting 1 for 3 with her RBI. The NU defense was solid with just one error for the game and a double play.

Game 2 – Eagles 11, Yotes 2

The Eagles' bats came alive for 11 hits producing 11 runs in an 11-2 victory over C of I to sweep today's doubleheader. Pitcher Hannah Yelas went 7 innings for the Eagles scattering 7 C of I hits while the NU defense played error-free softball.

Darian got things going for NU in the 2nd inning with a single down the left field line scoring Courtney Heard who had reached base on the double. In the 3rd inning, the Eagles took advantage of four Yote errors to score three runs on just one hit—Aubree Slocum's base hit bunt which scored Desiree Mendola.

The Yotes picked up a single run in the 4th inning with a solo home run to left field.

After scoring single runs in the 5th and 6th inning and leading 6-1, the Eagles would put the game away with their 5 run inning. Savannah Rush hit a two run, two out single scoring Godfrey and Slocum. Ricki Tacdol then hit a two run double to left which scored Rush and Aubree Slocum. Courtney Cox then singled to center field bringing Tacdol across home plate for their fifth run.

The College of Idaho would manage another solo home run in the bottom of the 7th, but it would be the only hit of the inning as NU would earn the victory.

Northwest U (11-23, 6-16) was led by Ricki Tacdol's 2 for 4 day at the plate, scoring once and driving in 3 RBIs and Savannah Rush who went 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs and scoring a run. Darian Godfrey was 2 for 4, scored twice and added one RBI. Yelas earned the earned the win with her 7-hitter and giving up only walk in 7 innings.

The Eagles now head west to La Grande to take on Eastern Oregon Saturday morning with the first pitch scheduled for 11 a.m.
