Eagles Drop a Pair to UBC in B.C.

NU's Courtney Cox hit a solo home run in game two
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 DELTA, B.C. – The Northwest University and UBC Thunderbirds played a CCC doubleheader this afternoon in Canada with British Columbia coming away with two wins, 13-2 and 4-1.

Game 1 – UBC 13, Northwest U 2

Rough going in the early innings plagued the Eagles again as they gave up 10 runs in the first two innings to drop game one, 13-2, in 5 innings.

The Thunderbirds put two runs on the scoreboard in the first inning on a 2-run double by Shaelyn Ogilvie. In the second inning, UBC would score 8 runs on 5 hits to take a 10-0 lead.

NU's Allie Anderegg would drive in a run in the top of the 3rd inning with her single to right center bringing in Darian Godfrey who had gotten on base on a dropped fly ball. She would steal second and then advance to third on Aubree Slocum's fly out to center field.

After UBC added a run in the 3rd and two more in the 4th inning, Allie Anderegg and Darian Godfrey would team up for another run in the 5th inning for the Eagles. Godfrey led off the inning with a single to left and then advance to third on a fly out and throwing error by the T-Birds. Anderegg would then hit an infield single scoring Godfrey. But, it wouldn't be enough to cut into the UBC lead as the game would end in 5 innings.

Anderegg went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs for Northwest (8-19, 3-12 CCC) and Courtney Cox would go 2 for 2. Darian Godfrey was 1 for 2, scoring twice.

Game 2 – UBC 4, Eagles 1

British Columbia would build a 4-0 lead after four innings to hold on for a 4-1 victory in the second game of the CCC doubleheader today.

UBC would score twice in the first inning when two costly NU errors would allow T-Birds runners to score. British Columbia would add another run in the 3rd inning on a RBI double by Shaelyn Ogilvie and another in the 4th inning on a single to left field.

The Eagles' lone run would come on Courtney Cox's lead off solo home run to open the 5th inning, but that would be all the scoring NU could muster as UBC pitcher, Lindsey Ogilvie would hold NU scoreless the final two innings to earn the 4-hit win.

Northwest U's (8-20, 3-13 CCC) Alyssa Gonzalez, Allie Anderegg, Ricki Tacdol and Courtney Cox would have the four hits for the Eagles. Hannah Yelas went the 7 innings for NU giving up 4 runs on 7 hits to take the loss.

NU will remain on the road this Friday and Saturday as they travel to Eugene, Ore., to play Northwest Christian and then head to Salem to take on Corban.
