Eagles Split with Beacons in Eugene

Allie Anderegg went 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs in game two
Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 EUGENE, Ore. –  The NU Eagles would come back to take an extra inning game in game two to earn a split with Northwest Christian this afternoon. NCU would take a close 2-1 victory in game one and the Eagles would win the eight inning game two, 5-4.
 
Game 1 – NCU 2, Eagles 1
 
NCU's Ashlee Cole hit a solo home run in the 4th inning and batted in the game winning run in the 5th with a single to help lift Northwest Christian to a 2-1 conference victory in game one of a doubleheader. Northwest U out hit the Beacons 10-6, but stranded 8 base runners in the loss.
 
Cole led off the bottom of the 4th inning with her 11th home run of the season as the Beacons would take a 1-0 lead. Cole then singled to center field to score Jessica Garner who had reached base on an Eagle error and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt.
 
The Eagles scored in the top of the 6th inning when Ricki Tacdol's bunt single would score Desiree Mendola from third after being moved over by Savannah Rush's single to right center field.
 
Ricki Tacdol was 2 for 2 with a RBI for Northwest U (8-21, 5-14 CCC) while teammate Savannah Rush was 2 for 3. Aubree Slocum was 2 for 4. Pitcher Kelli Peckham pitched a solid 7 innings for the Eagles giving up just 6 hits.
 
Katie Walker earned the win for Northwest Christian (12-25, 6-11 CCC) going 7 innings, striking out 5 and giving up 10 NU hits. Ashlee Cole led the Beacons going 2 for 2, scoring a run and driving in two RBIs. Taylor Medley was 2 for 3 at the plate.
 
Game 2 – Eagles 5, NCU 4 (8 innings)
 
The Eagles came up with two runs in the 8th inning to defeat the NCU Beacons, 5-4. Pitcher Hannah Yelas pitched a complete 8 inning game earning the win for NU.
 
NU jumped out early coming up with two runs in the first inning. Allie Anderegg singled in Aubree Slocum who had walked to lead off the inning. Alyssa Gonzalez then scored on a ground out to shortstop to put NU up 2-0.
 
NCU would get one run back in the bottom of the 4th inning as Ashlee Cole continued her long ball hitting with another solo home run to lead off the inning.
 
The Eagles would increase their lead to 3-1 in the 5th inning as Aubree Slocum and Alyssa Gonzalez started the inning with base hits. Allie Anderegg came through once again with a double to center scoring Slocum.
 
NCU would not go away easily and would tie the game in their half of the 5th inning. Two doubles would each drive in a run as the Beacons would tie the score 3-3. The game would remain tied through the 7th sending the game into extra innings.
 
Northwest U would not wait long as Savannah Rush would lead off the 8th with a double to center. Ricki Tacdol would lay down a bunt and safely reach first on a NCU error which would also score Rush. Tacdol would steal second base and would score on a clutch single by Darian Godfrey which would give NU the 5-3 lead.
 
The Beacons would mount a comeback in the bottom of the 8th with a one out single and double to center making it a one run game, 5-4. With two outs and two runners on base, Hannah Yelas and the NU defense would get the Beacons to ground out to end the game.
 
Allie Anderegg led Northwest U (9-21, 6-14 CCC) going 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs while Darian Godfrey went 1 for 3 with a RBI. Danielle Bonksy was 1 for 4 with a RBI. Yelas struck out 5 and only gave up one base on balls in 8 innings in the circle. The defense was solid with an errorless game.
 
NCU (12-26, 6-12 CCC) was led by Ashlee Cole's 3 for 4 game with 2 RBIs including her 12th home run of the season. Paige Griffith was 1 for 4, scored a run and had one RBI for the Beacons. Janieve Boyles pitched 7 innings in relief, gave up 7 hits and 3 runs to take the loss.
