Warriors Down Eagles in Two CCC Games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SALEM, Ore. – Corban pitchers put together a 5-hitter and a 1-hitter to take a Cascade Conference doubleheader from the NU Eagles today on Warrior Field. Jessica Holsinger posted her 13th win Corban's 11-2 win in game one and Allie Mendez allowed just one NU hit in a 5 inning, 8-0 shutout in game two.
 
Game 1 – Corban 11, Northwest U 2 (5 innings)
 
Corban scored 11 runs in the second, third and fourth innings to take an 11-2 victory in the first game of the doubleheader. Three Warrior home runs did the damage for Corban
 
The Eagles got off to a good start in the 1st inning when Ricki Tacdol singled with two outs driving in Alyssa Gonzalez for the early 1-0 lead. NU's lead would be short lived as Corban would bounce back for two runs in the 2nd inning when Grace Uttogalarneau hit a two run home run to left field.
 
The Warriors would score four more runs in the 3rd inning. Iris Rodriguez would single in a run and Uttogalarneau would hit a sacrifice fly to score another run. Chaleigh Kirkwood would then hit a triple bringing in two more runs to take a 6-0 lead.
 
NU would get one run back in their half of the 4th inning would Darian Godfrey would score on a ground out to first base cutting the Warrior's lead to 6-2. But, a double and two home runs in the 4th inning would bring five Corban runners across home plate to increase the Corban lead to 11-2.
 
Danielle Bonsky and Savannah Rush would hit back-to-back singles in the top of the 5th with one out, but the Eagles would fail to advance them as the game would end with a force out at second base.
 
Darian Godfrey went 1 for 2 and scored a run for Northwest U while Ricki Tacdol was 1 for 3 had one RBI for the Eagles. Pitcher Hannah Yelas took the loss with a tough day in the circle giving up 11 hits and 10 runs.
 
Corban (RV) was led by Iris Rodriguez who went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI's and Grace Uttogalarneau's 1 for 2 game with 3 RBI's.  Raimee Sluder was 2 for 2, scored three runs and batted in 2 RBI's. Jessica Holsinger earned the win.
 
Game 2 – Corban 8, NU 0 (5 innings)


Corban's Allie Mendez threw a 1-hitter in the second game as the Warriors defeated the Eagles 8-0 in five innings.
 
Corban scored runs in the first four innings to build the lead and were aided by Taylor Eilders' six RBI day at the plate. Eilder's was 2 for 3 with the big hit coming in the 3rd inning—a grand slam home run over the left field fence to push the Warrior lead to 7-0. Eilders also doubled in two runs in the 2nd inning for her 6 RBI total.
 
The Warriors (29-14, 13-7 CCC) added one more run in the 4th inning for the 8-0 lead. Northwest U's only hit would come in the 5th inning when Savannah Rush led off the inning with a single to center field. It would NU's only base runner for the game.
 
Northwest U 9-23, 6-16 CCC) will remain on the road next weekend when they travel to La Grande, Ore. And Caldwell, Idaho to play Eastern Oregon and the College of Idaho before returning to Kirkland for their regular season finales on April 22 and 23.
