Eagles Fast Start Spells Doom for Wolves

Justice Martion was big with 21 points and 8 rebounds
Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Four players scored in double figures as Northwest U defeated Walla Walla University, 91-55, to post a Cascade Conference win tonight. Justice Martion led the way for the Eagles with 21 points and 8 rebounds.
 
Northwest U led the entire way as they played with a purpose and eight minutes into the game, led 32-11. The Eagles would leave no doubt they came to play as Justice Martion's lay-up at 3:05 and Tre' Benton's free throw would increase the Eagle lead to 47-19 with 2:12 left in the half. Kaelan Hicks would close out the scoring with his jumper at the buzzer which would stretch the NU lead to 30 points, 53-23 at the half.
 
Nine minutes into the second half, Tre' Benton would hit a 3-pointer lifting the Eagles to a 35 point margin, 74-39. Jaden Jenkins would hit two free throws with 7:26 remaining in the game to make it 82-44 as the eagles would coast to their 15th win of the season against 4 losses.
 
Michael Dupree added 18 points for Northwest U (15-4, 7-4 CCC); Dak Shagren scored 15 points and Paul Loranger added 12 points and 9 rebounds. Tre' Benton scored 9 points with 9 rebounds as the Eagles hit 48 per cent from the field and 42 per cent shooting from beyond the 3-point line. NU out rebounded the Wolves 49-31.
 
Walla Walla (1-16, 0-9 CCC) was Ethan Osias' 14 points. Dylan Browning scored 8 points with Zane Browning and Alec Calloway each scoring 7 for the Wolves. WWU was limited to 32 per cent shooting for the night and managed 3 for 20 from the 3-point line for 15 per cent.
 
"I was really pleased with our effort to start the game," said John Van Dyke, Eagle head coach. "We came out focused and determined to play well on the road which set the level of play for us the remainder of the game. All thirteen that played tonight gave us a good effort. We need to bottle this and have some carry over to our next game."
