Box Score 1 REDDING, Calif. – The NU Eagles finished round robin play at Simpson this weekend with two losses to No. 6 Simpson in doubleheader today on the Big League Dreams Field.
Game 1 – Simpson 2, NU 1
NU Freshman pitcher Rachel Hawley had another good outing in the circle limiting the Red Hawks to two hits, SU pitcher Amy Rodriguez combined with reliever Hailee Nichols to limit the Eagles to just three hits as the Red Hawks took the first game, 2-1.
Simpson picked up their first run in the bottom of the 3rd when Kaylana Mah led off with a single to left field. Mah later scored on a single by Mia Olvera to put Su up, 1-0. Northwest U tied the sore in the top of the 4th inning when Savannah Rush doubled in Allie Anderegg from first base, but was tagged out trying to stretch her double to a triple.
Simpson came right back in their bottom half of the 4th to get the game winning run when Courtney Clevenger scored on a stolen base from third on a double steal which included Missy Silveira stealing second.
NU would leave Mikayla Wells stranded on base in the top of the 5th after Wells singled to center. Yeawa Asabi would also be left on base after her single in the 6th inning.
Savannah Rush went 1 for 3 with the RBI with Mikayla Wells and Yeawa Asabi getting the other two hits for Northwest U (2-3). Rachel Hawley pitched 6 innings giving up just two hits, two runs and no strike outs.
Mia Olvera went 1 for 3 for Simpson (7-1) with a RBI. Kaylana Mah was 1 for 2 getting the other hit for the Red Hawks. Amy Rodriguez picked up the win in the circle for SU going 4 innings, giving up one hit and one run.
Game 2 – Simpson 8, Eagles 3
Simpson's bats came alive in the second game for 10 hits, driving in 8 runs for an 8-3 victory in the final game of the round robin series.
After taking a 2-0 lead after two innings, Simpson broke the game open for four runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning with Kaylana Mah coming up with a two run triple driving in Courtney Thomas and Amanda Laughlin. SU picked up another run in the 5th to go up 7-0.
Northwest U came back in the top of the 6th inning with three runs on two hits and some control problems by the SU pitcher. Yeawa Asabi was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to bring in the first run. Cara Cristion then scored on a bases loaded walk and Asabi scored after Allie Anderegg was hit by pitch.
The Eagles wouldn't be able to get anything going in the 7th as SU would take game two, 8-3.

Karrie Barnes had the two hits for Northwest U (2-4) while pitcher
Rachel Hawley took her second loss of the weekend as she went 2.1 innings, giving up 6 runs on 6 hits.
Hannah Yelas pitched in relief yielding 2 runs on 4 Red Hawk hits.
Paris Hallums earned the win in the circle for Simpson (8-1) as she went 5.2 innings while giving up 3 runs on two hits. She struck out 6 eagle batters and walked three. The Red Hawks Played errorless softball for their 6 innings in the field.
