Box Score 1 |
Box Score 2 REDDING, Calif. – Northwest University split their two games again on Saturday as they shut out William Jessup 1-0, and lost a 5-inning 10-0 contest to No. 6 Simpson in round robin play.
Game 1 – NU 1, WJU 0
Freshman
Rachel Hawley improved to 2-0 for her college career as she held William Jessup to five hits for a 1-0 shutout this afternoon. The Eagles managed just four hits themselves, but got the game winning run in the top of the 6th inning to improve to 2-1 for the season.
Yeawa Asabi hit a one out single in the 6th inning to reach base. After an Eagle strike out,
Danielle Bonsky stepped to the plate and doubled to left center driving in Asabi. That would be all they would need as Hawley and the Eagle defense would not allow a Warrior to score. Asabi went 1 for 2 scoring the one run for Northwest U (2-1) while
Danielle Bonsky was 1 for 3 with the RBI.
Game 2 – Simpson 10, NU 0 (5 Innings)
No. 6 Simpson continued to roll as they blanked the Eagles 10-0 in a 5 inning afternoon game to close out the day for the Eagles. The big inning came in the bottom of the 2nd when the Red Hawks put together 8 hits for 8 runs while leaving 2 runners on base.
The Eagles found Simpson pitcher, Courtney Dunn tough to hit as she would only allow one Eagle batter to reach base on a hit. Dunn only walked two and struck out, but with the help of the Red Hawk defense, not allow NU batters to reach base.
Aubrey Slocum got the lone hit for Northwest U (2-2).
Hannah Yelas took the loss in the circle for the Eagles going 1.2 innings and giving up 9 runs on 10 hits.
Rachel Hawley came in on relief and allowed 2 hits and 1 run while in the circle.
