Eagles and Beacons Split Again on Sunday

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 BOTHELL, Wash. – Northwest University and Northwest Christian split again today in their doubleheader at Cedar Park Christian High School. The Beacons edged Northwest U 8-7 in the first and the Eagles took a 6 inning game, 8-4, in the second which was called due to deteriorating weather conditions.
 
Game 1 - Northwest Christian 8, Northwest U 7
The Beacons used big innings in the 3rd and 6th innings for a come from behind 8-7 conference win in the first game of a doubleheader. NU would go on top 3-1 after two innings, but NCU would come back with 4 runs in the 3rd inning. NU pitcher ran into trouble walking in two runs and Alyssa Gayle came through with a two run single. NU would come back in the bottom of the inning with one run, but Northwest Christian would lead 5-4 after four innings.
 
Northwest U would take a 6-4 lead in the 5th inning when Maggie Harshaw hit a two run triple down the right field line driving in Darian Godfrey and Savannah Rush.
 
The Beacons would come back to regain the lead and get three more runs in the 6th inning to push their lead to 8-6, as they would pound out 5 singles in the inning. Northwest U would get one run back in the bottom of the 7th, but it would not be enough.
 
Maggie Harshaw led Northwest U (4-7, 1-2 CCC) with a 3 for 4 day and 4 RBIs. Darian Godfrey was 2 for 4 and scored three runs for the Eagles. Stephanie Granger took the loss for NU in the circle giving up 8 runs on 10 hits.
Avert Daniel and Alyssa Gayle both went 2 for 2 and drove in two runs for Northwest Christian (2-7, 2-1 CCC). Ereanna Higbee was 1 for 2 with 2 RBIs. Katie Walker earned the win in relief going 4 innings, giving up 4 hits and 3 runs.
 
Game 2 – Northwest U 8, Northwest Christian 4 (6 inns.)
Northwest U scored eight runs on eight hits as they defeated Northwest Christian, 8-4, in a 6 inning game called due to weather conditions. Temperatures were in the 30's with winds gusting to 25 mph and rain heavy at times. NU Pitcher Rachel Hawley limited the Beacons to 4 hits.
 
NU took a 4-0 lead in the 2nd inning aided by a two run single by Courtney Heard. Two other runners scored on a walk and hit batter.
 
The Eagles increased their lead to 8-0 in the 4th inning on three hits and two costly errors by the Beacons.
 
NCU came alive in the 5th inning when Avery Daniels hit a three run double to drive in three Beacon teammates. They got another run on a sacrifice fly by Paige Griffith.
 
NU pitcher, Rachel Hawley, would hold NCU scoreless in the top of the 6th inning and the game was called giving the Eagles the non-conference victory.
 
Northwest U (5-7) was led by Courtney Heard who was 2 for 3 with 3 RBIs. Danielle Bonsky was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Rachel Hawley earned the win pitching 6 innings and giving up just 4 hits.
 
Avery Daniels led Northwest Christian (2-8) with 3 RBIs and going 1 for 2 from the plate.  Katie Walker took the loss in the circle for the Beacons as she went 3.1 innings, giving up 4 runs on 4 hits.
