Eagles and T-Birds Split Wet Twin Bill

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University and University of British Columbia split their doubleheader in a pair of five inning games with UBC taking game one, 14-5, and Northwest U winning game two, 9-1, and a wet and rainy day on the Lake Washington High School field.

Game 1 – UBC 14, Northwest U 5 (5 innings)

The T-Birds hammered out 17 hits scoring 9 runs in the final two innings for a 14-5, five inning game this morning at Lake Washington High School. The weather was wet and the game had one 10 minute rain delay.

UBC jumped out early in the first inning scoring 3 runs on 4 hits. Hillary Strelau came up with a 2 run double with two outs and Sierra Sherritt drove in a run with her two out triple.

NU got a run back in the 2nd inning when Yeawa hit a sacrifice fly scoring Danielle Bonsky who had led off the inning with a double.

After scoring 2 more runs in the 3rd inning, UBC then scored 5 runs on 6 hits in the 4th and 4 more runs in the top of the 5th off 4 hits.

Northwest U scored 3 runs in the 5th inning, 2 runs on a double by Yeawa Asabi, but it wouldn't be enough to close the gap as UBS would take the conference portion of the four games series 3-0.

Yeawa Asabi led Northwest U (12-26, 6-18 CCC) going 1 for 2 with 3 RBIs while teammate Allie Anderegg went 2 for 3. Stephanie Granger took the loss pitching in the circle for the Eagles.

UBC (9-22, 8-13 CCC) was led by Lindsey Ogilve's 3 for 4 day with 2 RBIs and scoring 3 times. Sydney Brown was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs and Mackenzie Siddall was 2 for 4, scored once and drove in 3 RBIs.

Game 2 – Northwest U 9, UBC 1 (5 innings)

A seven run 5th inning would give Northwest U a 9-1 victory in the non-conference game of their weekend series.

After UBC opened the first inning with a 1-0 lead, NU would come back to take the lead in the 2nd inning scoring 2 runs on when Cara Cristion singled in two runs for a 2-1 Eagle lead.

Neither team would score until the bottom of the 5th inning when NU put the game away with their 7 runs. Maggie Harshaw singled in a run; Nanea Tali hit a sacrifice fly for a run; Alicia Loiler singled in a run; and Carly Tighe doubled in a run scoring two runs. The Eagles scored two more runs on UBC errors.

Northwest U's (13-26) Hannah Yelas pitched 5 innings and gave up 4 hits and one run for the win. She also struck out four and did not issue a base on balls. Maggie Harshaw went 2 for 3, scored twice and had 2 RBIs and Carly Tighe was 2 for 2 for the game.

Lindsey Ogilvie was 1 for 2 with one RBI and Sydney Brown was 2 for 2 and scored the lone run for the T-Birds. Emma Tuson pitched four innings and gave up 6 runs on 5 hits.
