No. 20 Owls Too Much for Eagles

Box Score KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The No. 20 ranked Oregon Tech Owls snapped a two game losing streak as they defeated the NU Eagles, 83-72, on Danny Miles Court tonight in Cascade Conference play.
 
The two teams would battle back and forth in a low scoring first half with neither team leading by more than six points during the 20 minutes of play. With NU trailing, Tanner Davis would make it a 19-17 game with 7:55 to go on the clock, but Tech would then reel off a 9-4 run to take a 28-21 lead at the 5:03 mark. OIT would maintain that distance until Josh Meyer would hit a 3-pointer with 45 seconds on the clock to make it a 32-28 Owl lead. After two OIT free throws, Justice Martion would close the half with a jumper with 7 seconds to go to make it a 34-30 game at the half.
 
Meyer would hit another 3-pointer with 12:58 left in the second half to cut the OIT lead to 50-42, but a 16-6 Oregon Tech run would increase their lead to 66-48 with 6:38 showing on the clock. Northwest U would be unable to cut into the Owls' lead the remainder of the game as Tech would go on to post the CCC win.
 
Northwest U (9-11, 3-7 CCC) was led by Tanner Davis and Justice Martion with both scoring 16 points for the Eagles. Tre Benton scored 14 points and Josh Meyer dropped in another 10 points. NU finished the game shooting 36% and only 22% from beyond the 3-point line.
 
Andrew Weber led Oregon Tech (15-7, 8-4 CCC) with 14 points and 7 rebounds, hitting 7 of 11 shots. Zach Bernards also scored 14 for the Owls adding 6 rebounds. Tyler Hieb and Seth Erickson each added 10 points for OIT who shot 48% from the field and 75% from the free throw line.
 
Next Up: NU moves on to Ashland for another 6 p.m. game with Southern Oregon on Sunday.
