Corban Pulls Away to Defeat Northwest U

Box Score KIRKLAND, Wash. - Five Warrior players scored in double figures as Corban University broke open a close game and pulled away in the second half for an 88-77 victory tonight.
 
The two teams would stay wrapped up in a tight contest for a good part of the first half with seven lead changes. With Northwest U leading 29-28 with 7:27 to go until halftime, Corban would begin a 9-0 to take a 37-29 lead after Caleb Dozier's driving lay-up with 2:05 on the clock. NU's Tre Benton would cut the Corban lead to 40-35 with his trey at 17 seconds, but AJ Monterossi would answer with a 3-pointer at the buzzer for a 42-35 Warrior lead.
 
With Corban shooting 54% in the second half, the Warriors would stretch their lead to 19 points, 64-45, with Jett Sobotta's 3-pointer at the 12:15 mark and Northwest U would be unable to get closer than 7 points the remainder of the game suffering their fourth straight defeat.
 
Northwest U (9-14, 3-10 CCC) was led by Tre Benton's 24 points and 7 rebounds. Justice Martion added 14 and Christian Hakilimali contributed 13 points and 6 rebounds. NU would shoot a respectable 50% for the game.
 
Leading the way for Corban (13-10, 7-8 CCC) was Jeff Sobotta with 14 points. He was joined by teammates Joel Johnson with 13, AJ Monterossi and Caleb Dozier with 12 points and Beau Tilleman with 11 points. The Warriors shot 54% in the second half. Corban edged the Eagles in rebounding with a 34-33 margin.
