C of I Too Much for Eagles

Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho – It was a combination of tired legs and the Yote defense as No. 7 College of Idaho won their 11th straight game with a 76-47 victory over the NU Eagles tonight in conference play.

The Eagles had little time to recover from their double overtime game with Eastern Oregon the previous night as the Yotes would jump out to a 22-7 lead with 11:39 to go in the first half. But, the Eagles would go on an 8-4 run to make it a 26-15 game with 7:05 on the clock. C of I would come back to outscore the Eagles 11-6 to take a 37-21 lead at halftime.

The second half would belong to the College of Idaho as they would slowly pull away from the Eagles as NU would struggle scoring. Talon Pinckney's lay-up with 17:02 left in the game would push C of I's lead to 43-23. With the Eagles shooting just 33% in the second half the Yotes would continue to shoot well at 48% and would increase their lead to 65-39 with 6:32 as they would go on to post their 21st win of the season.

Justice Martion led Northwest U (9-16, 3-12 CCC) with 12 points with freshman, Ryan Ricks, contributing 9 points making 3 of 6 three-pointers. The Eagles shot 35% for the game and went to the free throw line just one time in 40 minutes of play, going 0-1.

The College of Idaho (21-5, 15-1 CCC) had five players in double figures with Gibson Berryhill leading the way with 17 points, hitting 5 of 7 treys. Aziz Leeks had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds and Roosevelt Adams also had 13 points with 6 rebounds. C of I shot 45% for the game including 43% from beyond the 3-point arc.

Next Up: The Eagles will be at home next Tuesday hosting the Evergreen State College in the Pavilion.
