Eagle Softball Opens Season Saturday

TACOMA, Wash. - The 2018 edition of the Eagle softball team debuts this Saturday when they take the field in Tacoma in a non-league doubleheader with Puget Sound on the Loggers home diamond.

Montessa Califano enters her third season at the helm and has some new additions to her coaching staff. Bill Dillon will be back for his third year as an assistant, but joining him will be newcomers Kaaren Hatlen and Austin Wilkerson. Two familiar faces and former players, Ricki Tacdol and Allie Anderegg are also being added to Califano's staff this season.
Tacdol is a '16 graduate of NU, a four year player and started for the Eagles at shortstop, finishing with a career .245 batting average and a .914 fielding percentage. Anderegg also started for the Eagles in the outfield and played two seasons with a .262 career batting average, a .551 slugging percentage and .952 fielding average.

NU returns 14 players from last season and has three freshman newcomers to the roster. The team is looking to improve upon their 13-30 record in 2017 and with a lot experience returning, the season looks bright.

Weather looks good for Saturday in Tacoma, so it should be a good day for softball.
