Box Score 2 Kirkland, Wash. – The Warriors had a successful weekend and swept the Eagles by winning both games today. Corban shut out Northwest in the first game, winning 5-0. They then finished out the second game 7-3.
Game One: Northwest University 0, Corban University 5
The Eagles have struggled to find hits for the second day facing Sabrina Boyd from Corban University. Boyd held Northwest (7-13, 1-5) to 4 hits with 9 strike outs. The Eagles had a spark of life when
Sammi Caron hit a double over the center fielders head to start off the bottom of the sixth inning. Then the Eagles loaded the bases by a walk and a single by
Maggie Harshaw but were still unable to find a way to bring them home.
Corban (11-4, 4-0) hit the ball well with 9 hits to bring in 5 runs. Kaylee Buhrkuhl led the Warriors by hitting 3 for 4, with two doubles back-to-back, followed by a single. Corban hit the ball hard in the top of the fifth when Megan Rybar tripled to right field, and Jessie Isham followed with a homerun over the left field fence.
Game Two: Northwest University 3, Corban University 7
Loiler had a strong bat for the Eagles in the second game at Knutson Field in Bothell, Wash. She ended the game hitting 3 for 4 with a homerun late in the seventh inning. Northwest University (7-14) showed strength in the bottom of the sixth inning when they had cut the lead down to 2 runs and had the bases loaded with two outs. The chances of taking the lead went away quickly when Rachel White struck out
Sammi Caron to close out the inning.
Corban University (12-4) closed out the evening strong by scoring 3 runs in the top of the seventh before heading home. Mahina Chong had a two run homerun over the left field fence and Megan Rybar followed with a ground rule double over the center field fence.
Rachel Hawley pitched the entire game for the Eagles giving up 6 earned runs, 4 walks, and 2 strike outs.
