Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Ore. – The Eagles traveled down to Southern Oregon University to face a team that is known for scoring runs. Eagles battle to stay in the second game but fall short.
Game One: Northwest University 2, Southern Oregon University 10
The Eagle's(7-15, 1-6)
had a bumpy road to get the game started. In the bottom of the first, the Raiders(20-7, 5-2) had a string of singles to score 3 runs with 2 outs.
Alicia Loiler lead the Eagles bats by going 2 for 2 with two singles and a sacrifice fly to bring in a run in the top of the 5
th inning. Northwest University was out hit 12-5. The Raiders were dialed into the Eagles pitching. Kelsey Randall went 1 for 1, with two walks and a hit-by-pitch. Rebecca Velasquez went 2 for 2, with a single, double, and a walk. Olivia Mackey had the biggest impact, going 3 for 3 with three singles.
Game Two: Northwest University 1, Southern Oregon University 5
The Eagles(7-16, 1-7) were holding strong in the second game of the series until the bottom of the 5
th inning. Northwest University had the lead 1-0 until the Raiders(21-7, 6-2) played small ball in the bottom of the 5
th inning to bring in 5 runs. Olivia Mackey started the bottom of the 5
th with a double and Katrina Winterburn finished the inning with a double which, ended the inning with her being thrown out on third base. Kelsey Randall led the Raiders hitting 2 for 3 with two singles up the middle.
Darian Godfrey and
Courtney Heard were strong hitter for the Eagles. Godfrey went 2 for 4 with a double early in the game which, later turned into the only run the Eagles would score. Heard went 2 for 3 with two singles up the middle.
Hannah Yelas, despite only throwing one strike out in 6 innings, she shut down the Raiders offense except for the 5
th inning. Yelas looked in control on the mound with only walking one batter in six innings.
