Raiders Take Two from the Eagles, in Almost Identical Games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Ore. – The Eagles continue their 4 game series in Southern Oregon. The first game today, third game of the series, is a conference game, while the fourth game is a non-conference match up. Both games were finished early due to an 8 run lead by the Raiders.

Game One: Northwest University 1, Southern Oregon University 9
The Northwest University Eagles (7-17 overall, 1-8 CCC) had a difficult time find runs against the Southern Oregon (22-7 overall, 7-2 CCC) Raider's pitching. In both games, the Eagles were held to only 1 run and the Raider's brought in 9 runs. Hannah Yelas, and Mikayla Wells, led the Eagles offense by both hitting 1 for 2. Darian Godfrey and Maggie Harshaw both had doubles on the day. Godfrey's double came at the right time to bring in Mikayla Wells and scored the only run for the Eagles.
Gabby Sandoval had her day to shine. She threw 8 strike outs in just 6 innings. She held the Eagles to just 5 hits and one earned run. The Raiders started the game off strong scoring 3 runs in the first inning. They followed by scoring a run every inning except for the 2nd inning. Olivia Mackey was dialed into the Eagles pitches by hitting 3 for 3 with a triple for the Raiders.

Game Two: Northwest University 1, Southern Oregon University 9
Unfortunately for the Eagles (7-18 overall), the second game today looked much like the first game. Just like the first game today, the Eagles brought in 1 run on 5 hits. The Raiders we smart at the plate without having a single strike out on the game. Northwest University's run came late in the game when Hannah Yelas hit a single through the right side and scored Laurissa Lee.
Karlee Coughlin threw a complete game for the Raiders (23-7 overall). She finished all 5 innings with 1 earned run, 5 hits, 2 walks, and 1 strikeout. Southern Oregon University's offense, supported Coughlin with run to a comfortable lead. Kelsey Randall, Rebecca Velasquez, and Tayler Walker all went 2 for 3 at the plate.

The Eagles return home to face the University of Providence (Mont.) on Friday morning, Everest Park, at 11am & 1pm.
