Box Score 2 EUGENE, Ore. – The Beacons pitching gave them their first CCC sweep since 2016. The Eagles with only one hit in the first game, found themselves struggling to get started, but kept both games within reach. Both teams were sound on defense by playing without an error in either game.
Game One: Northwest University 0, Northwest Christian University 2
The Eagles had a chance to earn runs in the 2
nd inning but left Tighe and Yelas on base. Yelas had the only hit on the day for the Eagles when she singled to left field. The rest of the game the Eagles did not reach 2
nd base.
Yelas held the Beacons to two earned runs, on nine hits, and only one walk. In the second inning, Garner singled through the left side and later scored by advancing on Higbee's single, and Kucera's sacrifice fly. They then added one more run in the third inning with Wagner's double to left center and Gayle's single to bring Wagner in home.
Game Two: Northwest University 2, Northwest Christian University 3
Northwest University fell short to tie the game in the top of the 7
th inning by leaving Godfrey on third base with no outs. NU also left the bases loaded in the top of the 4
th without being able to score a run. The Eagles were in position but ended the game by leaving 9 players on base.
Northwest Christian University spread out their runs by earning one run in the second, third, and fourth innings. They also left the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth. Wagner's double to left field brought in Kucera for the Beacons to have runs to hold onto the victory.
