Box Score Helena, Mont. – The Saints were able to win all three games in the series over the Eagles. The fourth non-league game was cancelled due to weather.
Game One: Northwest University 1, Carroll College 2
All of the runs in the 3
rd game came in the 4
th inning. The Eagles (12-28 overall, 5-16 CCC) took the lead in the top of the fourth with one run, but that wasn't enough when Carroll College scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth.
Yeawa Asabi's only hit on the day turned into the only run for the Eagles. Asabi hit a homerun over the left field fence.
Maggie Harshaw led the Eagle by hitting 2 for 3 with 1 double. Allison Williams was able to hold the Eagles to only 3 hits, in 7 innings, and 8 strikeouts.
Carroll College (26-12 overall, 12-7 CCC) put on a hitting display in the bottom of the 4
th inning. 5 of the 6 hits for the Saints were all singles in the bottom of the 4
th inning. Anna ApRoberts led the Saints by hitting 2 for 3. ApRoberts started the bats in the bottom of the 4
th inning with a single to right field. Bayer followed with a single to left field. William was up next, with a single to center field. ApRoberts attempted to make it home on the hit, but was thrown out at the plate. Yarnall then singled to shortstop bring in Bayer to score. Smith brought in the winning run with a single to second base.
Stephanie Granger carried the bulk of the pitching for the Eagles, throwing 4 innings and allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs, and 3 strikeouts.
