Box Score 2 SURREY, B.C. – Northwest University splits to end the 4 game series in British Columbia. The Thunderbirds took the first game today, collecting another Conference victory. The Eagles were able to pull out a win in the second game, winning in 9 innings. The second game today was the only non-conference game in the series.
Game One: Northwest University 1, University of British Columbia 3
The Eagles were shut out for 20 straight innings by the Thunderbirds pitching until a dropped ball late in the 7
th inning which allowed
Samantha Parisio to score on the error. Northwest University put together 4 singles in the game spread out between for different players:
Alicia Loiler,
Maggie Harshaw,
Samantha Parisio, and
Mikayla Wells. Emma Tuson threw her second win in the series by pitching a complete game and only allowing 4 hits, 1 unearned run, 1 walk, and 2 strikeouts.
Paige Harbord led University of British Columbia's hitting by going 2 for 3. Sydney Brown also contributed by going 2 for 4 with 2 RBI's. Ashley Jacob went 1 for 1 with a triple to right field.
Stephanie Granger threw a complete game allowing 7 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 unearned run, 3 walks, and 4 strikeouts.
Game Two: Northwest University 6, University of British Columbia 5 (9 Innings)
Northwest University scored early and late to claim their first victory of the weekend by sending the game into extra innings.
Darian Godfrey led the Eagles by hitting 3 for 4 with 1 sacrifice hit, and 2 stolen bases.
Maggie Harshaw went 3 for 5 with 1 RBI. Zoe Gillis started pitching for the Thunderbird but was pulled in the 3
rd inning after the Eagles scored 4 runs to start the game. Chantelle Twynstra threw the next 6 innings allowing 5 hits, 2 earned runs, 1 walk, and 5 strikeouts. The Eagles out hit the Thunderbirds 13-8.
University of British Columbia scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 7
th inning to send the game into extra innings. The Thunderbirds were led by Erin Reid hitting 2 for 4. Frances Ramsay went 1 for 3 with 3 RBI's.
Rachel Hawley threw 7.1 innings allowing 7 hits, 5 runs, 3 walks, an 5 strikeouts.
Hannah Yelas picked up the win with only pitching 1.2 innings.
