Box Score 2 SURREY, B.C. – Northwest University traveled to University of British Columbia in hopes of getting closer to earning a spot in the playoffs. The Thunderbirds pitching put a stop to the Eagles hopes quickly by pitching two shut outs in day one of the two-day series.
Game One: Northwest University 0, University of British Columbia 6
Northwest University (12-29 overall, 5-17 CCC) left 6 runners on base and struggled to bring anyone home. Emma Tuson threw a complete game for the Thunderbirds allowing 5 hits, 0 runs, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. All 5 hits by the Eagles were spread out with 5 players each getting one hit.
Sammi Caron led the Eagles by going 1 for 2 as the designated player.
University of British Columbia (12-20 overall, 9-13 CCC) scored late in the game, picking up 5 of the 6 runs in the last two innings to spread the lead.
Hannah Yelas gave up 12 hits, 6 runs, 5 earned runs, 0 walks, and 0 strikeouts in a complete game. Claire Eccles was a standout for the Thunderbirds hitting 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's, and two doubles. Michaela Moore was right behind Eccles with 2 hits and 2 RBI.
Game Two: Northwest University 0, University of British Columbia 1
The second game turned into a pitching battle. University of British Columbia (13-20 overall, 10-13 CCC) finished the game with a walk off single to right field in the bottom of the 7
th inning.
Rachel Hawley was one out away from sending the game into extra innings. Hawley only allowed 5 hits, 1 earned run, 6 walks, and 1 strikeout in 6.2 innings. Michaela Moore had the game winning RBI and hit 2 for 2 to lead the Thunderbirds to their second victory on the day. This game moved University of Columbia into the 6
th place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference potentially securing a spot in the playoffs. The Thunderbirds will have to close out the season in the top six to advance to playoffs. University of British Columbia is currently one game ahead of College of Idaho.
The Eagles (12-30 overall, 5-18 CCC) out hit the Thunderbirds in game two but failed to turn the hits into runs.

Laurissa Lee led the Eagles hitting. All three players went 2 for 4 with
Alicia Loiler having the only double on the day. Zoe Gillis pitched a complete game for the Thunderbirds, and shut out the Eagle by only allowing 8 hits in 7 innings.
