Box Score 2 KIRKLAND, Wash. – Northwest University decided to share their senior night and also recognize cancer awareness. The Owls dominated the first game by hitting 2 homeruns and pitching a no-hitter. The Eagles responded in the second game by scoring late in the game to send the game into extra innings for the second day in a row.
Game One: Northwest University 0, Oregon Tech 6
Kelly Scott of Oregon Tech, threw a no-hitter against the Eagles in the 3
rd game of the 4 game series. Scott shut down Northwest University (13-34 overall, 5-22 CCC) by throwing 11 strikeouts, 3 walks, and 1 HBP in 7 innings. Although the Eagles did not have a hit, they were still knocking on the door of scoring. Yelas was able to reach second base on a dropped fly ball to center field. Then Sam Parisio reached first base on a throwing error by the Owls. Yelas was thrown out at home trying to score on the error.
Oregon Tech (34-11 overall, 21-6 CCC) scored early to have a comfortable lead the entire game. In the top of the second inning, Shayna Ige hit a 3-run homerun over the left center field fence. In the top of the 3
rd inning, Tara Moates hit a 2-run homerun to left center. Jacey Conklin led the Owls hitting going 2 for 3 with 1 double.
Hannah Yelas threw a complete game to finish out her college pitching career. She allowed 5 hits, 5 earned runs, 4 walks, and 0 strikeouts in 7 innings.
Game Two: Northwest University 3, Oregon Tech 4 (8 Innings)
Northwest University scored late in the 7
th inning to tie the game and send it into extra innings for the second day in a row! Oregon Tech (35-11 overall) out hit the Eagles 12-7. The Owls started off strong with Rachael Delamare hit a 1-run homerun down the right field line. The Eagles quickly responded by bringing in two runs in the bottom of the first. Kiahna Brown led the Owls hitting by going 3 for 5 with one stolen base.
Stephanie Granger finished her college pitching career by throwing 6.2 innings before all 6 senior Eagles were taken out of the game. Granger allowed 11 hits, 3 earned runs, 1 walk, and 3 strikeouts.
Rachel Hawley closed out the game for the Eagles, allowing 1 hit, 1 unearned run, 3 walks, and 1 strikeouts in 1.1 innings.
Yeawa Asabi led the Eagles (13-35 overall) hitting by starting the bottom of the first inning off with a 2-run homerun over the left center field fence.
Mikayla Wells also had a strong showing hitting 1 for 3 with 1 double and 1 RBI. The Eagles made a significant adjustment in the field and only had 2 errors combined between the two games. This was a significant improvement from the 11 error the day before. Loryn Williams threw all 8 innings for the Owls. She gave up 7 hits, 3 earned runs, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts.
