The highlight of the game came in the bottom of the second inning when, the Eagles (11-23 overall, 4-12 CCC) pitcher
Hannah Yelas hit a two run homerun over the right field fence. This was Yelas' first collegiate career home run.
Maggie Harshaw went 2 for 3 with one stolen base. Yelas pitched a complete game allowing 8 hits with 3 earned runs.
Hailey Kline of Eastern Oregon University (17-10 overall, 12-3 CCC) threw a complete game and held the Eagles to only 4 hits and 2 earned runs. Kline threw an impressive 11 strikeouts in 7 innings. The Eagles put on the pressure in the bottom of the 6
th inning with runners on second and third. Yelas hit a deep fly ball down the left field line. Both runners tagged and tried to advance. Eastern Oregon was able to tag out
Maggie Harshaw on her way to third base, before
Alicia Loiler could cross home plate ending the inning preventing the tying run. Kline then shut down the Eagles in the bottom of the 7
th inning to secure the victory.
Game Two: Northwest University 6, Eastern Oregon University 5 (8 Innings)
This game had all the appearances of Eastern Oregon University (17-11 overall, 12-4 CCC) being able to sweep the Eagles. The Mountaineers had a comfortable lead going into the 6
th inning 5-1. In the bottom of the 6
th inning, Northwest University (12-23 overall, 5-12 CCC) was able to bring in 4 runs and tie the game 5-5. The Eagles were led by
Alicia Loiler hitting 2 for 3 with 3 RBI's and 2 walks.
Hannah Yelas had another successful day at the plate hitting 2 for 3 with 1 RBI.
Sammi Caron also contributed going 3 for 5 with 1 RBI and 1 double.
Shevan Defreitas did everything she could to get Eastern Oregon University a win. Defreitas hit 3 for 3 with 2 RBI's and 1 homerun in the top of the second inning. Eastern Oregon University's pitching allowed 10 hits, 5 walks, and only 2 earned runs. The Mountaineers were doing everything to stay in the game until
