KIRKLAND – Northwest opens the home portion of its schedule this weekend with Northwest Indian College and Salish Kootenai College visiting for the Northwest Classic.

Corban and Salish Kootenai open the men's side of the classic at 3 p.m. Friday, with the NU men taking on Northwest Indian at 7 p.m. Friday's slate also includes two women's games, with Montana Tech playing Corban at 1 p.m., and Northwest facing Salish Kootenai at 5 p.m.

On Saturday, Corban and NIC play a men's game at 1 p.m., and the Eagles play SKC at 5 p.m. Women's games include Corban and Salish Kootenai at 11 a.m., and NU takes on Montana Tech at 3 p.m.

The Eagles are 2-0 on the season after wins against Camosun and Thompson Rivers last weekend.

Hussayn Ford has the early lead in the Cascade Collegiate Conference and is sixth nationally in rebounds with 12.5 per game. Cesar Sandoval is No. 8 in the nation with an assist/turnover ratio of 7.0.

Dejwan Walker gets 11, and Cesar Sandoval and Ryan Ricks average 10.5 points per game each. Walker and Sandoval have provided the scoreboard punch in reserve roles.

Dejwan Walker is right behind him at 4.0 assists per game. The Eagles are 15th in the NAIA with 20.5 assists per game.

Northwest is averaging a 13-rebound advantage in the early going and is allowing 6.5 offensive rebounds per game. Hussayn Ford leads the team at 12.5 per game, and Cesar Sandoval, in 21.5 minutes per game, averages 6.5 rebounds.

In four losses this season (Evergreen State, Oregon Tech, and twice to Multnomah), Northwest Indian records 15 points from Sam Marqueda and 15.2 from Everette Howe. Howe leads with 6.5 rebounds per game. The Eagles are being outscored by an average of 109-73.

Salish Kootenai College has lost two games–to Montana Tech 151-52 and Montana Western 137-63–for an average score of 144-58. In those two games, Shylon Stewart averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds, and Nick Chichenhof averaged 12.5 points and seven rebounds.
