Eagles to Visit Oregon for CCC Weekend

KIRKLAND – Northwest gets back to action after a two week break. The Eagles travel this weekend for 7:30 p.m. games at Corban Friday and Northwest Christian Saturday.
 
The Eagles moved to 2-0 in the CCC and 6-4 overall after beating then-No. 1 Oregon Tech 80-68. Ryan Ricks had 28 points to seal his CCC Player of the Week honors after making the game-winning three-point play against No. 17 Southern Oregon. Hussayn Ford had 15 points and a dozen rebounds, and Christian Hakilimali scored 16 points.
 
Corban has won their last four games and nine of the last 10 meetings with NU. The Warriors beat the Eagles 84-61 last season in Salem. Hussayn Ford had 11 points and nine rebounds for NU, while AJ Hodges led CU with 20 points. 
 
Ford leads a group of five Eagles averaging in double-figure scoring. Ford, an honorable mention All-America last season, averages 16.4 points per game, followed by Hakilimali at 15.3, Ricks at 12.7, Cesar Sandoval at 10.2, and Dejwan Walker at 10.1.
 
Ford, who is averaging a double-double, leads the Eagles with 12 rebounds per game. Ford is second nationally with 9.3 defensive and fourth with his 12 rebounds per game. The Eagles rank 10th in rebound margin (9.1) and 16th in rebound defense (32.3). 
 
Hakilimali averages 5.3 assists per game, which is 10th in NAIA Division II. He also is 18th nationally in field goal percentage at .584. The Eagles are 18th nationally with 17.5 assists per game and 12th in the country with their .501 field goal percentage.
 
Corban is 7-6 overall and 1-2 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference this season after splitting games at Walla Walla. Four Warriors average between 10.1 and 11.4 points per game, led by Elijah Webb at 11.4. Isaiah Quintero leads the team with 8.3 rebounds per game. 
 
Northwest ended an eight-game series slump against Northwest Christian in Eugene last season, 98-93. Ford had 21 points and 12 rebounds for NU. Tyrus Hosley had 28 points, and Reece Robinson added 21 points and 11 rebounds for NCU.
 
Northwest Christian is 6-5 overall and 1-0 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The Beacons beat Pacific Lutheran 91-84 Saturday. NCU is third nationally with 6.1 blocks per game. Ernest Ugoagu leads the Beacons at 16.8 points per game.
