KIRKLAND – Northwest is back on the softball trail this weekend, this time playing five teams in six games in three days in Surprise, Arizona.

NU opens with Mount Mercy (0-0) and No. 25 Marymount (3-7) Friday. The Eagles play Ottawa (4-2) and Arizona Christian (4-6) Saturday and finish up with a doubleheader Sunday against Park-Gilbert (1-5).

The Eagles are second in the nation with 1.2 home runs per game. They had two in the game against Arizona Christian. Northwest has six home runs this season, including two each by
Jordan Dippel and
Abby Brake. Those two are third nationally in home runs.

Northwest is hitting .274 as a team with four starters above .300.
Sam Parisio leads the team at .467 with seven hits in five at bats. Dippel is second at .444, followed by
Ashley Oswald at .333 and
Abby Brake at .308.

Rachel Hawley leads the team with a 1-1 record and a 3.23 earned run average. She also has a team-best eight strikeouts. Teams are hitting .263 against Hawley.

Mount Mercy opens the season Thursday with two games at Arizona Christian. Last year, the Mustangs went 32-22 with a .308 batting average and 3.19 team earned run average.

Marymount is batting .242, led by Madison Loui with a .500 average (6-12). DeAndria Lockett has a shutout and has not allowed an earned run in her 13 innings to lead a pitching staff that carries a team earned run average of 4.59.

Ottawa is hitting at a strong .349 clip, with Jordan Jefferson leading the team with a .429 average. Bailey Coronado is 2-0 in the circle with a 2.71 earned run average. The team has an ERA of 3.00.

Arizona Christian hits .281 with a team earned run average of 3.36. Payton Carli leads the hitters with a .379 average, and Elsy Guzman tops the team with nine RBIs through 10 games. Emerald Grijalva is 1-1 with a 1.59 earned run average.
