KIRKLAND – After 11 non-conference games, Northwest turns its attention to Cascade Collegiate Conference action this weekend in Portland, visiting Warner Pacific in doubleheaders that start at 1 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. Saturday.
Warner Pacific revived its softball program this season and is off to a strong start under Head Coach Nathan Ohta, who was the head coach at Corban for nine seasons and went to WPU after assisting at George Fox for two seasons.
Warner Pacific is 7-2 this season and 1-0 at home. The Knights are hitting .292 as a team with a 2.70 earned run average. Makenzie Kimura has emerged as a top hitter with a .407 batting average, while Devinne Amesquita has a robust 1.000 slugging percentage with five home runs in nine games. McKenzie Pierce (4-1, 2.71 ERA) and Melia Croydon (3-1, 2.80) have been the starting pitchers.
The Eagles rank 31
st nationally with .545 home runs per game and 37
th with .273 triples per game.
Jessica Nunes, who sat out the first five games, has two triples this season and ranks third nationally in total triples.
Jordan Dippel and
Abby Brake lead the team with two home runs apiece.

Rachel Hawley has been strong, however, carrying a 2.22 earned run average and both pitching wins. Hawley owns the single-season earned run average record at Northwest.
