KIRKLAND – Northwest begins its foray into the Cascade Collegiate Conference postseason Wednesday with a 7 p.m. game against Eastern Oregon in Kristi Brodin Pavilion.
 
Northwest heads into the postseason as the Cascade Collegiate Conference's fourth seed and hosts the No. 5 seed Eastern Oregon. The other first-round games have No. 8 Corban at No. 1 College of Idaho, No. 7 Warner Pacific at No. 2 Southern Oregon, and No. 6 Northwest Christian at No. 3 Oregon Tech. College of Idaho secured an automatic berth for the NAIA Tournament. 
 
Northwest succumbed to foul trouble and its season-long battle with injuries in an 80-79 loss at Walla Walla Saturday. Christian Hakilimali led the Eagles with 27 points and 12 rebounds. and Hussayn Ford added 15 points and 12 boards. Ryan Ricks scored 17 points.
 
NU and Eastern Oregon split the regular-season series with each team winning at home. The Mountaineers won in La Grande, 73-63, and the Eagles won in Kirkland, 72-68. Landon Jones and Jarek Schetzle are averaging a double-double against the Eagles, with Jones at 15 points and 10 rebounds and Schetzle at 15 points and 13 rebounds per game. Max McCullough averages 13.5 points per game vs. NU. For the Eagles, Ford averages 20 points and 13 rebounds, and Hakilimali averages 16 points against EOU.
 
Ford leads both divisions of the NAIA with 24 double-doubles and averages a double-double in scoring and rebounding. He leads the Eagles with 17.6 points per game, followed by Hakilimali at 15, Ricks at 13.3, Dejwan Walker at 10.7, and Tanner Davis at 10.0. The team shoots 48.9 percent from the field, which is the 17th-best mark in NAIA II. Ford is 27th at 55.4 percent, and Hakilimali is 28th at 55.39 percent.
 
Ford averages 12.14 rebounds per game. He took over and leads NAIA Division II with that average. He is second in total rebounds at 352, third with 9.1 defensive rebounds per game, and 19th with 3.03 offensive rebounds per game. NU is 10th nationally with an 8.24 rebound margin. 
 
Hakilimali averages 5.21 assists per game to lead the Eagles. He is seventh in the nation in assists (151) and 10th in assists per game.
 
Eastern Oregon comes in at 16-13 overall and 10-10 in the CCC. The Mountaineers won five of their last six games. McCullough leads EOU with 20.1 points per game, and Schetzle is at 18.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. Jones averages 14.4 points and 8.5 rebounds. 
 
Schetzle is No. 1 in NAIA Division II with his 65.6 field goal percentage and 4.26 offensive rebounds per game.
