Sine Named Academic All-District

KIRKLAND – The College Sports Information Directors of America selected Northwest University's Riley Sine for the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 honor for men's track and field and cross country.

Sine, a graduate student from Spokane Valley, majored in Bible and theology.

In 2019-20, Sine won the Cascade Collegiate Conference cross country championship. He also earned NAIA Cross Country All-America, NAIA All-America in the Indoor 5000M, Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, USTFCCCA West Region Men's Athlete of the Year, First-Team All-Conference, Academic All-Conference cross country and track and field, and was a four-time CCC Runner of the Week.

"It's a wonderful honor for him," said NU Head Coach Mark Mandi. "While Riley has been extremely dedicated to running the past six or so years, he has valued academics his whole life, which is something that is cultivated from his amazing family. This award is also a testament to his work ethic and time management skills, because balancing school and athletics at a high level is tough but a challenge that Riley is willing to meet head on."

The award, voted upon by NAIA sports information directors from District 4, which includes Washington, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Wyoming, and Canada, requires a 3.30 cumulative grade point average, a significant contribution to the success of the team, and sophomore or higher academic status.

With the award, Sine is nominated for Academic All-America.
