Barry Signs wth NU Softball

KIRKLAND – Northwest University softball announced the addition of Peninsula High School infielder Emily Barry to the 2021-22 roster.

Barry, a 5-7 first baseman from Gig Harbor, is a four-time Academic All-Conference award winner, who twice earned honorable mention All-Conference. She earned the Coach's Award in 2019 and was Best Offensive Player for the PHS volleyball team in 2017. She also has played travel season ball for the Antelope Valley Firecrackers, Diamond Dusters, and Kitsap Titans.

"We are excited to have Emily join our NU softball family," said Northwest Head Coach Pam Fink. "She will bring positive energy to the team. We look for her to have a strong bat and good glovework at first base. She is going to be a wonderful addition to our community here at Northwest. We are excited to watch her develop over the next four years."

Also recruited by Willamette, Penn State-Beaver, and Olympic College, Barry said she chose NU because "Northwest felt like a home away from home."

The daughter of Alison and Steve Barry, Emily has been on the honor roll since 2017, is a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club, and is a senior class senator.

Barry attends Harbor Christian Center and has volunteered at the YMCA, Bremerton Food Bank, Tacoma Rescue Mission, Serve 253, Artondale Elementary School, Salvation Army, YWCA, and the SAVE Thrift Shop.
