KIRKLAND – Northwest officially launches its season Saturday with a 3 p.m. contest against Linfield College in Kristi Brodin Pavilion.
The Eagles have won their last two home openers, including a 77-71 win over Corban in the Pav last spring. Northwest is 3-1 in home openers under Coach
Jeff Drinkwine.
Northwest is 2-1 in its all-time series with Linfield, including a 2-0 home mark. Both home wins were by 20-point margins. The Wildcats won the last meeting, 78-71, in 2019.
The Eagles return three double-figure scorers from last season, led by guard Cacoa Chatman at 13.7 points.
Pa'Treon Lee averaged 11.9, and
Daniel Sharpe brings back 10.9 points per game average. Chatman and Lee shared the assists lead last season.
Linfield opened its season last week with a 102-100 exhibition win over Western Oregon and will count Saturday's game as a second exhibition.
The Wildcats were 10-2 last season. Dempsey Roggenbuck led LC with 29.7 points per game. Aaron Baune paced the team with seven rebounds per game. Linfield made 114 three-pointers in 12 games last season.
