KIRKLAND – Northwest starts its softball season Friday and Saturday with a pair of non-conference doubleheaders at Oregon Tech. Games begin at noon on both days.
Northwest is 1-23 all time against Oregon Tech. The win was a wild 8-6 NU victory in 2015. The Owls have a 19-game winning streak against Northwest. The teams did not miss last season due to Covid-19. OIT won the previous matchup, 9-1, in 2019.
Jessica Nunes swatted four home runs and three triples in the abbreviated 2020 season. Her slugging percentage came in at .808. The junior second baseman had 17 RBI through 23 games.
Oregon Tech rolls into the series this weekend with a 6-0 record, including a pair of non-conference wins over No. 17 College of Idaho. Olivia Lethlean is batting .571, and Aubrie Businger has a couple of home runs.
