KIRKLAND – Northwest meets its first unranked or undefeated opponent of the season this weekend with doubleheaders against Carroll College Saturday and Sunday at Bellevue High School.
Doubleheaders start at noon on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Northwest is 5-8 all time against Carroll College. NU hasn't taken the series since 2017.
The teams last met in 2019, with the Saints taking three of four games.
Sammi Caron had five hits in the series and at least one hit in each of the four games.
Sam Parisio had a home run in the 3-0 win.
Northwest had some nice contributions last weekend.
Sydney Maurer threw five scoreless innings against top-ranked Southern Oregon a day after gunning down three base stealers out of four.
Jordan Dippel had a double and a triple and hit .364 to go with four outfield assists.
Nicola Fish hit .455 (5-11) against the No. 1 team in the nation.
Fish used a strong performance against one of the NAIA's best pitching staffs to bump her batting average up to .345. She leads the team and is 16
th in the Cascade Collegiate Conference.
Sydney Maurer leads the Northwest staff with a 5.96 earned run average, while
Becca Rennick has the most innings at 28.1 and most strikeouts with 11.
Carroll comes into the series at 4-11 overall and 1-5 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference after a 2-2 split at home against Eastern Oregon. Jessica Nimmo leads the Saints with a .396 batting average. Kaitlynn Ayers has four home runs, and Amber Brewer has driven in 12 runs.
Carroll has a .297 team batting average and a 9.26 team earned run average.
Abby Hanley leads the team with a 6.96 earned run average with 44 strikeouts in 54.1 innings.
