KIRKLAND – Northwest hosts No. 5 Oregon Tech this week with four games at two King County sites in a pair of 11 a.m. doubleheaders.
The Eagles and Owls meet Friday at Hartman Park in Redmond and Saturday at NU's home-away-from-home, Bellevue High School.
Only fans on the NU player pass list will be admitted to the games.
Northwest is 1-27 all time against Oregon Tech. The win was a wild 8-6 NU victory in 2015. The Owls have a 23-game winning streak against Northwest. The Eagles visited OIT in Klamath Falls for four non-conference games to start the season.
The Eagles went 0-4 in Klamath Falls earlier this season, but there were a few bright spots. Sammi Caron hit .400 for the weekend. Deanna Johnson, Jordan Dippel, Nicola Fish, Jessica Nunes, and Sam Parisio all had extra-base hits. Parisio's was a home run.
Northwest went 1-2 against Warner Pacific last weekend in three one-sided games. NU put 12 runs on the board in its victory. Ashley Oswald hit .500 with a .750 on-base percentage. Alyssa Maldonado batted .455, and Nunes hit .444 with a 1.000 slugging percentage.
Nunes leads the Eagles with a .640 slugging percentage, .421 on-base percentage, and .360 batting average. She also tops the Northwest lineup with 11 RBIs.
The Eagles carry a 7.64 earned run average into the series. Sydney Maurer leads the team with a 5.47 ERA. Becca Rennick has two wins to lead the team.
Oregon Tech is 22-4 overall and 9-3 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference after top-ranked Southern Oregon took three of four last weekend. OIT bats .391 as a team, led by Jensen Becker at .491. Kennedy Jantzi leads the team with 12 home runs and 31 RBIs.
The Owls carry a 2.33 team earned run average. Sarah Abrahamson is 11-1 with a 2.07 ERA, and McKenzie Staub is 11-2 with a 2.94 ERA.
