KIRKLAND – Northwest returns to its home away from home to take on Eastern Oregon in a pair of weekend doubleheaders at Bellevue High School.
The action begins at 1 p.m. Friday, with Saturday's twin bill set to launch at noon.
The Eagles enter the game with four batters hitting above .300.
Jessica Nunes leads with a .329 average, followed by
Sammi Caron and
Alyssa Maldonado at .304.
Palena Gomes has made the most of her eight at-bats for a .375 batting average.
Jordan Dippel is just off the .300 clip at .293. Nunes leads the team with six home runs and 19 runs batted in.
Northwest is coming off a historic win over Providence. The Eagles scored a single-game record 17 runs, and Nunes tied two school records with two home runs and six runs batted in
Northwest is 8-14 all time against Eastern Oregon. NU took the series 3-1 the last time the teams met in 2019 in La Grande. In that last series,
Nicola Fish batted .438, Parisio hit .384, Nunes batted .375, and Caron hit .357.
The Eagles carry an 8.14 earned run average into the series.
Sydney Maurer leads the team with a 7.05 ERA.
Becca Rennick has two wins to lead the team.
Northwest went 1-2 at Providence last weekend. The series was shortened by one game when umpires didn't show up for the first game, and high school umpires were used.
Eastern Oregon is 10-24 overall and 6-12 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. The Mountaineers lost four straight at home against top-ranked Southern Oregon and have lost seven straight.
Jordan Henley leads EOU with a .398 batting average. Makenzie Chambers has a team-leading 20 RBIs. Henley and Kayla Berg have four home runs each. Amanda Smith is 4-4 this season with a 4.30 earned run average.
