Sine Named Academic All-District

KIRKLAND – Northwest's Riley Sine capped a stellar career with a CoSIDA Academic All-District IV Track and Cross Country selection, the association announced Thursday.

To be nominated, athletes must have a career grade point average above 3.40, have achieved sophomore or higher academic status, and make a significant contribution on the field. The pool of nominees is voted on, according to position, by SIDs in the region.

Sine, a graduate student from Spokane Valley, qualified for this spring's NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. He is a two-time track All-American with an additional All-America performance in cross country. As a senior, he also was Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Year, Cascade Collegiate Conference Champion, USTFCCCA West Region Men's Athlete of the Year, and First-Team All-Conference. He has been Academic All-Conference throughout his career and was selected NU's Male Athlete of the Year in 2019.

"For Riley, it's easy to think an award like this is automatic because he's recognized so often, but we really need to appreciate the level of consistency he has shown at a high level over so many years," said NU Head Coach Mark Mandi.

District 4 includes the Cascade Collegiate Conference, the Golden State Athletic Conference, the Cal Pac Conference, the Frontier Conference, the Sooner Athletic Conference, and the Red River Athletic Conference. The district has teams in Washington, Oregon, Montana, Idaho, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.
