KIRKLAND – Northwest heads out on its first road trip of the season, traveling to Puget Sound for a 7 p.m. game on Friday before moving on to Linfield for a 3 p.m. tip on Saturday.

Northwest has lost four of its last five true road openers. The last win was in 2018 at Portland Bible.Â

Northwest opened the season last weekend with a 66-63 win over Capilano. The Eagles trailed by as many as 10 points in the second half before storming back for the victory. Lewis Pope had 17 points and three steals to lead the Eagles. Drew Bryson added 12 points and five assists.

Northwest is 11-6 all time against Puget Sound. The Eagles beat the Loggers last season 70-66 in Kirkland.Â

NU is 3-1 in its history against Linfield, including a 77-73 victory in Kirkland last season.

Friday's game will be Puget Sound's season opener after an exhibition at Seattle University on Wednesday. The Loggers graduated their top two scorers and leading rebounder from last year but return Grant Erickson, who averaged 9.1 points and 6.1 rebounds. Leading distributor Taj Phillips also returns, averaging three assists last season.Â

Linfield opens the season on Saturday against the Eagles. The Wildcats lost their top three scorers from last season but bring back Trey Bryant who averaged 9.8 points and a team-best 5.8 rebounds.Â
