Eagles Close Out Season this Weekend

KIRKLAND – Northwest wraps up the season this weekend with home games Friday against Bushnell at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday against Corban at 3 p.m.

This weekend's games will be the last for seniors Rayvaughn Bolton, Jason Brown Jr., Tanner Davis, Trevan Newman, and Jase Paulsen. They will be honored on Saturday.
 
Northwest, in compliance with King County, will require visitors to supply proof of Covid-19 vaccination or a negative PCR Covid-19 test within 72 hours of game time. Rapid antigen tests are not acceptable. Individuals under 12 years of age, who are not eligible to be vaccinated, are not required to be tested for entry. Masks are still required.
 
Northwest dipped to 10-15 overall and 7-13 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference with a 77-54 loss at Eastern Oregon on Saturday. Davis, Tre Newman, and Carson Sparks had nine points each to lead NU, with Davis leading the team with eight rebounds.
 
Heading into the final weekend, three Eagles are averaging double figures in the scoring column. CaCoa Chatman, shooting 43.2 percent from three-point range, averages 14.2 points per game. Bolton gets 12.3 points per game, and Davis leads the team at 57.4 percent from the field and averages 12.2 points per game. Davis is fourth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference in field goal percentage, and Chatman is fifth in three-point shooting.
 
The Eagles are 34-48 all time against Bushnell, including a 2-0 forfeit victory due to Covid-19 protocols over the Beacons last month in a game scheduled for Eugene. Friday will be the first on-court meeting between the men's teams since Jan. 24, 2020, when the Eagles won 75-69 in Kirkland. 
 
The Beacons come into the game on Friday at 8-19 overall and 6-14 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, having lost five consecutive games, including their last four home games. Stevie Schlabach leads Bushnell at 18.2 points per game. Keishon Dawkins gets 13.6 points and a team-leading 7.5 rebounds per game.
 
Corban has a 49-33 lead in the all-time series against Northwest, including a 72-68 win in Salem last month. Bolton had 12 points and eight rebounds to lead the short-handed Eagles. Taylor Anderson scored 31 points and hauled in five rebounds for the Warriors.
 
Corban has secured a place in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament and is looking to claim a home-court spot with a game at Evergreen State on Friday before coming to Kirkland. Jordan Newt and Kendall Moore average 12 points each to lead the Warrior offense.
