Calquhoun Voted Academic All-America

KIRKLAND – Northwest's Ellie Calquhoun was selected for the CoSIDA Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-America team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Tuesday.

The award, which requires a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and a significant contribution to the team's success, is voted upon by NAIA sports information directors from across the nation and Canada.

"Ellie is well-deserving of an award like that," said NU Head Coach Mark Mandi. "During her four years here, she stayed motivated to excel in the classroom and in competition even through all of the challenges that the pandemic provided. I'm really proud of the way she not only persevered but also the way she excelled in so many facets of life to set an example for her teammates. I'm also proud of how our team was able to encourage her to be at her best in the moments it was difficult."

Calquhoun, a graduate student working on her MBA, qualified for the finals of the NAIA 3000-meter steeplechase and has run in the last three NAIA Cross Country Championships, twice as an individual.

She earned All-Conference honors in cross country last fall and academic All-Conference recognition throughout her career. In her senior season, she also won NU's Senior Award for Marketing and was inducted into the Delta Mu Honor Society.

As a junior, she earned the Junior Academic Award.
